Letting Go of Dad’s Dockers Collection
It hurts to let go of my Dad’s Dockers collection. He died a year ago and, recently, we have decided to give them away so others could still use them. We, together with my mom and 3 other siblings, sorted out Dad’s items to give away. These items were the fruits of his hard work overseas. He was such an admirable father, sacrificing his yearning for the family for the sake of everyone at home. Even until now, I still appreciate the good things he had done for us.
His three Dockers pants were given to my uncles, the Dockers shoes for my brothers, and other shorts and T-shirts for our close relatives. They were so happy upon receiving dad’s precious items. We cannot just keep those clothes forever and I’m sure if he was alive, he would do the same thing. I was surprised to see that he still kept the Dockers khaki pants I gave him. It was still intact with the tag. Mom said he was preserving it to wear on their 35th wedding anniversary, which was supposed to be held a month after he died. I couldn’t help but cry so hard when mom told me that. Things would have been different if he was here. It’s a sad reality living without him, but we have to let go. He’s in a happier place now.
